Matthew Waldman's eco-friendly planter made from...
While recycling has become second nature to many people, it’s easy to forget that we still throw away tons of useful materials every single day. New York City Transit Authority Graphics Standards...
This site is an archival record of a first edition NYCTA Graphics Standards Manualdesigned by Massimo Vignelli and Bob Noorda of Unimark International. Fascinating fact: The manual was found in a locker beneath old gym clothes. But thanks to Niko Skourtis, Jesse Reed and Hamish Smyth we can now all enjoy it online. via

SlingsHOT
Tea Cup SlingsHOT, a design concept by Samir Sufi, seems like a smart idea. A built in groove lets you pull the teabag tight against the edge of the cup to squeeze liquid out of the bag and keep it out of the water when you think you’re tea is ready.  via

Float
Available in walnut or rift oak, the wall-mountable Float Desk harnesses a “clever use of geometry and physics” to appear suspended in midair, rather than the David Blaine method of just being filled with hot air.  The view of the wall, whilst sat at the desk is pretty epic.  via

Spiky Tyres
Can your bike brave the snow? Probably not. But leave it to the Dutch to come up with the technology to turn anyone’s bike into a four-season vehicle. Bike Spikes (or, Sneeuwketting, in Dutch) are the creation of 24-year-old designer Cesar van Rongen. They’re rubber casings fitted with iron teeth to provide a bit of extra traction to bike wheels traveling over snow and ice. According to the...

The Amazings
The Amazings is born out of the single, simple idea that society has always learned from its elders. But somewhere along the way we have lost that connection between generations – which means losing rich, valuable, and rare skills. The Amazings is on a mission to fix this. Have a look at what some of the teachers have to offer: Tony can help you master the art of making a deal. David is a...
