As part of the new Samsung Galaxy Note campaign, soccer star David Beckham plays Beethoven’s ‘Ode to Joy’, by kicking soccer balls against a 15-foot wall of differently sized and toned drums and gongs. An interesting and different way of highlighting your new phone features. We doubt that Beckham actually did it though!

Water Tower Chair
As the name implies Bellboy’s Water Tower Chair takes its shape from planks salvaged from a 10,000-gallon rooftop water tank that once stood atop a Park Avenue co-op. The 40-year-old California Redwood lends its beautiful color and rich grain perfectly. Each 8’ plank has been chopped down and consecutively laid to accentuate the lounge chair’s flowing, mid-century inspired silhouette.

No stranger to the weight of wandering New Yorkers, Design Brigade’s Coney Island Low Table is constructed of wood reclaimed from the legendary boardwalk built in 1947. Curiously enough the non-native hardwood was originally harvested from northern South American rainforests. After over half a century of abuse the weathered wood simply sits to show off its beautifully distinct, dark patina.
Each of the 12 pieces will be auctioned off to benefit Brooklyn Woods, a wood shop job training and education center in NYC. For more information head to 12x12 online.

The Leap looks to change the way we interact with our computers.. Here’s how they tell it
In the beginning was the command line. And vacuum tubes, punch cards, keyboards, and mice. After all these years, we still use the standard tools to control our computers. But what if there was something more?
There is, and it is here: The Leap. A revolutionary piece of hardware no larger than your iPod that’s two hundred times more accurate than any product currently on the market. We believe that with The Leap, tomorrow we will no longer be tethered to hardware. With The Leap, imaginations will run wild, and possibilities will be endless. Cheesy marketing speak, you say? Perhaps. But at Leap Motion, we believe strongly and passionately that software can change the world. We believe you shouldn’t have to break the bank to make powerful software using powerful technology. We believe in possibility. And we cannot wait to see what the future will bring to the world of natural user interface and gesture control.
The Leap is now on pre-order here for $70.

Bellroy Shrinks the Travel Wallet
“How come travel wallets have always looked like man-bags that don’t even fit in your pocket?” asks Australia-based Bellroy, the company dedicated to designing better ways to carry things.

Their solution is the purpose-designed Travel Wallet, sized to hold everything flat you’d need to get through the hell of JFK or the bliss of Incheon.

Your passport gets the separate compartment it deserves, there’s space to hold four credit cards, and the extra-long lengthwise slot means you can stick your boarding pass in there without creasing the barcode, not to mention hold currency from those countries with the weird doormat-sized bills. There’s even an included micro-pen that tucks into the spine, so you can fill out that form where you lie about the fact that you’re smuggling infected livestock and genetically-enhanced seedlings while carrying more than £10,000 in cash.

The Travel Wallet’s done up in vegetable-tanned leather, in both a dark “midnight” color and a lighter cocoa, the latter of which will more quickly gather that Indiana-Jones-like patina. Nice.

LEGO hobbyist Sheepo has created this pretty incredible 1:8.5 scale model Land Rover Defender out of approximately 2,800 pieces. This was not made from a specific set from LEGO, but made from various pieces the toy company. It’s functional and you can see it in action in the video here. It also provides a visual breakdown of the functional components, so be sure to watch the vid closely!

Coin 4 presents a way to take pocket change and turning it into a makeshift iPhone 4 stand with their new protective iPhone cases. The case has various gaps on the backside so you can insert a coin to create the stand effect. Pretty handy. You can pick these up now in various colors over atUrban Prefer.
